In the course of my career, i was fortunate enough to photograph a two headed baby. I got a call from someone in the birthing center at the hospital where I work,who told me what was to come and that I would probably be called to photograph the infant. I got the call a few days later but with dismay it was from the pathology department as the infant had passed away. I packed my photo bag and headed down to the morgue where I prepared to do the final and probably only portrait in this childs short life. I draped the table in black velvet and gently placed the infant on the velvet, tented the lights to soften the harshness just as i would if doing a living portrait. After I was done I sat for a few minutes with her as if it was a private wake and thanked her for opportunity then I got up called the deemer and left. I have never been the same since.
