Mine ('92 300E) lasted no more than 6 weeks from when it made chirping sounds until it seized. Replaced with MB unit that included both "squirrel cages". My original cages looked fine according to my tech, so I guess it depends if you want to change just the motor. However, at 20 yrs old, the plastic on those cages may be brittle. My 2 cents...
