Hello. I have experienced this seat quirk on both my 1999 E320 and 1998 E300. Both times I have corrected the problem by moving the seat all the way forward until it stops...this seems to reset something. The seat and steering wheel will then move in the correct direction. Be sure to set your memory controls for your current position in case this "fix" doesn't work for you, so you won't be stuck in the full forward position.
