I have roadside assistance thru my auto insurance. it costs $5 per six months. it is almost as good as AAA, but you have to pay the tow, then you get reimbursed.

I have used them a few times- 3 tows, and once my ignition locked up in a ford ranger. this was at 7pm, and I had to go to work at 3am. called a locksmith, 5 minutes he was done- for $85. took in the receipt, no problem. they cut a check on the spot.

I use statefarm now, but most all the bigger co.s offer this service.
