Nothing academic about it,excessive praise will set a kid up for failure,scholastically and socially.

Wife has a friend who's kid attends some "school for the gifted"...got to the point kid's excuse for not completing assignments and/or lack of discipline is met with,"but I don't need that stuff,I'm smart,special,remember?"snotty little bastard too.
