My wife's '87 is another matter. The belly pans should trap some of the sound. I'm really interested is seeing how much quieter it gets when it finally warms up and dries off enough so I can install the insulation that currently is covering the spare bed. I'll probably even drag out my sound level meter and make some measurements.
RA - New hood pad installed jul06. I agree much the sounds comes from underneath and the cavernous hood space vs. 300d may make the difference. Interesting what are these belly pans and to they make them for w126 '83 300SD? A concern though is will it trap the heat making the drivetrain run hotter?

Thanks all- Raf
