I highly doubt it was sucking air, almost the entire oil pump assembly is submerged in oil all the time, so there's no way it could suck any air in. As for the part....call Phil or Roy at fastlane here on this site (click "Buy Parts" up above), they can probably get it for you, if not, call your local dealer....they will be able to get it.
