and for comparison towards a 1992-5 M5 they are 2 different kinds of beasts....
M5 has a literally race engine on a street car - M1 engine in a sedan pretty much. the idea is that you don't get your pants on fire power until it's well over 4000RPM
street putt around the M5 would be less than ideal.
But the sheer joy when you hold it by the scuff of its neck and throw it into a bend with tail swinging wide you'll notice what kind of bliss it is to have proper steering feel and lack of any electronic nannies to hold you back.
and once you settle down the M5 is as sophisticated as a E34 gets.
but E500 definitely has the "mafia"/ drug-dealer status to it that a E34 M5 is not going to get.
