in hemmingways novelette "the old man and the sea", there is a story mentioned in passing about the old man in the story. in his youth he was an excellent arm wrestler. one night in the bar a very muscular black man challenged him. they battled all night and into the next day when the old man (who was younger then) finally prevailed.

if you have read it before, you won't regret reading it again. i have read it at least four times. the first time i read all night.
