Why does he need a standard? He's gonna run it till it breaks, if ever. Seriously, we're talking a very small horsepower engine, geared well to make it last a lifetime, never seeing very high loads, hopefully tuned well.
My experience is what it is - I think Joe's engines will go a LONG time, as long as he keeps oil in them. It seems he drives plenty of miles in an year. The engines will be at operating temperature. The filter will take out the soot. He said he would change them on a regular basis.
