Here's a good way to see the difference. Remove the oil cap form any of my engines and peer inside with a flashlight. You can see nice and shiny metal with a nice glossy oil coating. That's the way it should be....... Not all varnished up or black and gooy.

Synthetic every 3k? Why 3k, why not 1k, 2k, or 4k? Why that number? What is so darn magical about 3000 miles? What does Amsoil have to say about this? I would guess, using the logic stated, that a change every 1k would be better. 1k changes would not hurt your engine, so why not change at 1k? If the answer is economics, then why not 4k? I'd like to comprehend the logic.
