Maybe it's not in that bad a shape. Since when does chattering lifters indicate you need a new camshaft? Who told you that? And why are you worried about the timing chain?

It sounds like you really need a thermostat and some brake pads....WOW... all of $50 in parts.

Obviously, I'm missing something.

Never change your oil, and save the EARTH and possibly your children's limbs or life!
