You splice into the high side metal line, where there is at least 4" straight run.

5/16", 3/8", 1/2" lines will work. There is some "give" to the compression fitting flex sleeves if the line isn't smooth.

Cut out a piece out of the metal line equal to the filter length, slip the compresion nuts , compression cones, flex rings onto the lines. Put the filter in the splice (arrow to flow) and tighten up the compression fittings.
