I sort of did something similar. It took me having my first three kids to realize that more money in the bank but less time with them was a surefire recipe for trouble.
So I too retreated to the suburbs and the relative leisurely life of a rural county prosecutor (compared to a big city-big lawfirm lawyer).
I've had no regrets.
Alas, however, that expensive AMG rocket keeps getting further and further out of reach.
Oh well....my life is well balanced and my kids don't hate me!
