So I opened the local paper, and what did I find?
85 Mercedes Diesel, needs work. Power everything, body in good shape.
$600 OBO
Of course, I call the number right away, and find out it's a
190D 2.2 manual with a busted IP. I go to check it out, and find out it's been sitting in a detailing lot for probably a year (so long that a couple tires are totally flat). It's had the usual rust at the jack points, but it looks like they were fixed, however poorly.
Trick is, the entire IP, fuel filter housing, belts, and camshaft cover are missing. The owner of the lot showed me the car, so he didn't know if the parts were still around. I think there were some other things missing too, but I'm not that familiar with the 201.
My question: am I passing up an incredible deal on a much sought-after car?
