Yes, on my 83 Olds Custom Cruiser Wagon (Diesel), I've hogged the filler neck, for the very same reason. Allows for quicker fuel stops all together. Takes the big nozzle about 40 seconds to fill the tank, (38 gallons) from dead empty. People look at me funny when I pump diesel into that car. A lot of people don't even expect it to be diesel. They weren't all that common even in their day, in those cars.
