I have the palomino interior which has the very, very, dark brown dash; it reads black, and let me tell you, it cracked very early on in it's life. I spoke to a high-end leather restorer and he said that the foam MB used had a chemical that caused it to become extremely dry and brittle. He said they changed the foam used in later models.

Can I ask you 560sl owners a question?
How do you feel about the knee roll below the steering wheel? My husband is 6'2", would he have knee room issues?
