Don, check for each course that you want to take. Otherwise, it's a waste of time. Knowing the textbooks used will help when you ask, unless the university is already well-familiar with the course. Do not bother to take the classes required for an associates degree, since you don't want to stop there.
If you do go to a CC first, your grades there will matter more than your high-school grades when it comes to getting into a university. So don't despair.
