I kind of feel that the rack and pinion has a more "natural" and on-center feel to it than the old recirculating ball, but my E430 is on it's third rack.

The first one failed for the previous owner, and he installed a factory rebuilt unit, which was on the car when I bought it.

I installed another factory rebuilt unit, which makes it the third.

The recirc. ball on my former W124 E320 was original, God bless it.
