Are there replacement buttons available anywhere or has anyone been able to re apply white paint, etc into these little indentations? I tried once briefly with a very small tip brush but I had hard time keeping my hand from shaking to fill in these small indentations.

Maybe you could coat all the black areas of the buttons with some kind of waxy substance or oil so that paint won't stick to it, and then with your shaky hand, and small-tip brush, paint with white paint the indented areas you want painted-- allow it to get tacky and then wipe off any excess from the black areas? (you might even look for some paint with luminescent qualities so you can see the buttons in the dark).
