In 1993, you could buy a 500SE or a 500SEL.
AMG never built an MB-sponsored 500SE or 500SEL in 1993.
However, a customer could take their 500SE or 500SEL to AMG and get it tuned.

Therefore, it's possible that a 1993 AMG with the 140 body style could have been a 500SE or a 500SEL, because the car would have been brought to AMG by the customer, and the customer can get whatever car he wants modified by AMG (within reason).
