Modulators are almost never the reason for modulator problems! The common cause is defective vacuum hook-ups.

The modulator is attached to the trans with a semi-cicular bracket attached by one or two bolts. Once it is released the modulator just pulls out. It may take a little twisting and effert as it does have an o-ring seal that needs to be tight. Be sure you replace the same rod as what came out if you have a new one. I think there are two differt types with different lengths. Got to be the same length. Adjust to taste.
