Rear Axle Bearing Tools

Has anyone done this job on a W123 using the Baum Tool socket for the slot nut (Baum # 915-0207)?

I just received my socket from Baum Tools and it looks like I'll need to take off about 1mm outside diameter off the tool so it will fit inside the outward turned edges of the thrust washer. When I called to inquire, they told me I needed tool # 915-0107 instead, which if you look up in their catalog and also in the M-B FSM is actually made for removing the slot nut on the differential's universal flange to the propeller shaft.

Am I supposed to remove something before taking the slot nut out, or is this tool flawed?
