Its not possible to remove the 'Plunger' of the pumping-element on that type IP without first dissassembling the cam and whole bottom assembly...

I guess you removed the Outer-part of the pumping-element, and Not its central plunger, which is located in a collet arrangement from below.

These parts should never be removed unless you really know what you're doing...(Never ever heard of one 'Jumping up' either, they are usually quite a 'snug' fit in the case, Not tight, just snug....)

It should be fitted in one Position Only....

As discussed in another post, I think you may have re-fitted this incorrectly and damaged it and or the pump case, by shearing off the locating nipple.
