The OM-616 Transmission and converter will probably physically fit the larger 617 engine, but the the smaller engine's transmission may give trouble some way down the road, as it probably doesnt have the same number of plates in its clutches and wasnt really intended for the higher power rating of the 617.
But, I guess it should fit and be made to work, But for how long, Who Knows!
