190e 16v timing gear re-assembly...

190e 2.5 16v - i stripped the front of the engine down to replace broken lower guide rail - all sorted, now started the rebuild.

couple questions/confirmation - is this what i need to do....?

first i plan on rotating the engine till the cylinder at the front is at the top of the compression stroke - i plan on doing this this by inserting a thin wooded dowel into the spark plug hole.

then i need to place the cams in their bores, roughly aligning the small holes in the sprockets - then bolt them down. once bolted down, realign the holes if needed

then run the chain round the cam sprockets, connect using link.

fit front engine plate

because i am at tdc at this point i can re-install the distributor body, alining the rotor arm to the notch in the body....??

does this all sound right, am i missing anything obvious...??

dont have any references in terms of current timing/internal engine position statusto go by as the engine was apart from some time....

just after some confirmation that i'm doing it right really.....

thanks all
