PLEASE! I get sick at the thought of a GM trans in a Benz. Believe me, the GM Hydromatics are AWFUL!!!! Volvo has used them for years in the S80 and some early model XC90's. Needless to say, Volvo replaced a lot of trannies under warranty for failure. The reason? The GM hydromatics could not take the torque of the Volvo turbo engines. What a mess! (Work For Volvo Myself, thats how i know... But do i dare drive one?????). We now use Japanese transmissions from Yamaha, a much more reliable and smoothe transmission...

Mercedes Benz supplies/ builds their own transmissions. The do not borrow/ share with other manufacturers, other than Chrysler.

P.S. Has anyone taken notice that Mercedes' new 3.5L V6 engine has been fitted on not only the majority of the Mercedes Line-Up but on the Chrysler and Dodge Family? A co-worker has a "Dodge Charger 3.5L". I opened the hood to find a very small STAR mark on the lower right rear Cam Cover....

P.S.2 All modern Volvo 3.2L 6-Cylinder engines are stamped FoMoCo.... And they are sharded with the Land Rover LR2....
