Must be the area, I guess. I do see a lot of kids and guys, mostly, in pickup trucks. I know my neighbor is a 2 truck family although I haven't seem much that they are hauling.
Yes, it can be done more efficiently but I think guys like the truck image and for women, the SUV is their "truck". Personally, I don't like driving in either of them as I like the lower slung cars more but I cannot see having a car for each purpose. I'd have to have a truck to haul the camper and a station wagon for dogs and driving around. I prefer driving the Vette but other than putzing around, it isn't good for much more so it is just a Hi-Po toy for me. When the wife is around, we drive her car because I can take the corners faster with it. With her car, I can do corners at 85 which the truck would be dangerous to do at 70.
