How about your warning lights? Did your ABS light come on when you locked up the front brakes? How about the low fluid alarm lamp? Did it go on when the fluid was low? A light should have been on, on the warning strip below the instruments. Once you fill the reservoir back up the low level light goes off. Not sure if the ABS light is self extinguishing.
