The US congress represents the will of the people better than OPEC, the Politburo, and British Parliament. Which is to say, it's way imperfect but it's what we got.
If they piss off too many people, that doesn't benefit congress.
I don't have illusions about the wonderfulness of democrats. But I think the displeasure with Repubs in 11/06 was based on more than them not being Republican enough.
