The engine is pretty reliable and really doesn't have an overheat issue in the engine bay (my 95 500 SL was another story)...

You may get the BAS/ESP fault code...the brake light switch is at fault here.

If you are looking for a cabriolet, expect top operation problems to be the REAL plague. Usually expensive issues, especially out of warranty!

Just got mine back ($2100) for a failed motor. It was attached to the hydraulic pump, and you had to buy as a whole unit ($1200)!

Consider an extended warranty if you chose to get a cabriolet!
