And why wouldn't U get a spark on a gasoline engine when roll starting? U are just cranking the engine with the transmission, drive shaft and axles instead of the starter motor.

Even if the battery was dead, roll starting it would turn the alternator fast enough to generate enough electric to make a spark. It would take a lot more generated electric to heat the GP in a diesel with a dead battery.
