Bad valve adjustment on 240D 4 spd
I adjusted my valves yesterday morning at 11 a.m. , 3 hours after I had driven it for about 5 minutes. I'm going to guess that even though the engine temp. did'nt break 100*F while driving, the engine was'nt cool enough for a good adjustment. The car could'nt go past 60mph because the engine was reving too high for me to push it any harder. This car can usually do 75mph comfortably.
Adjusted valves again this morning and the car is performing better on the highway, but the rpm's are still too high for the speeds that it's driving at.
I've successfully adjusted the valves in the past, and I'm using the same feeler gauges as before. Does it sound like the valves are too tight or too loose? Thanks,
Otto
