I would guess a solid weekend of bench time to rebuild one of these with your skill level, once you have the proper tools and parts in front of you.

I have one to rebuild fairly soon- my 300D is puking serious fluid out the front seal. I have a known good one that has 180k miles on it and 2 cores to pull some parts off of.

I have rebuilt a Ford C4 and the front part of my low mileage 722.120 on the 300SD. All I need now is the motivation (as in complete failure of the one in the car,)
