Ben, when you remove the manifold its well worth replacing the O-ring at the bottom of the EGR valve. Very cheap part, but difficult to get to without removing that manifold. Also get some engine degreaser and a bottle brush, and scrub that manifold out

One of those jobs that you should do 'while you're in there' so to speak.
