I don't know about the new models, but my 1971 300SEL 3.5 could handle pretty well, like it was on rails and 0-60 in 9.5 sec isn't too bad, for 1971.
I has a 325ic, and the cowl shake was so bad, the passengers thought my car was going to fall apart.
It's all relative.
