That is true if they used the MAF to also control the turbo boost like VW does in the TDI diesel cars. However if they have a seperate boost sensor like used in the diesel Jeep then all that it will do is shut the EGR off and improve mpg's and general performance. It is a simple test to see, and will not hurt the car.
