I happen to take this picture. I still had over 2k rpm's to go before redline. Might have been even more than that, as I don't remember if I took this pic before or after I realized I had forgotten about 6th gear.
I did go a little faster than that a few days before, when I was running late coming back from Heidelberg. There were a few cyclist in the way for a few km's....once they moved, I had about 2 mins of 180kph. Had I been more sure of when my exit was coming up, I might have gone faster.
The Opel gave no signs of nearing the end of its capabilities.
OK...now, I feel like a dummy...
the car I rented was a Vectra, not an Astra. With my luck, they won't bring this model over here.
