Way too real, Hatt. If you think about it, this kind of thing happens all the time. UFO sightings, cold fusion, telepathy, sasquatch, time travel, ET with the anal probe, and the current global warming fad are all subject to similar hysterical belief systems. It doesn't necessarily mean that any or all of them are poppycock, it does mean that people often get caught-up in the excitement of the moment and unconsciously want to be part of the group -- humanity always seeks normative functions. If belief in telepathy is normative over a time interval or locale, some proportionate number people will believe in it and some proportion of them will firmly believe they experience it.
