To test it you can do some searching about how to jump the fan (or, I believe you can run it off the battery posts to see if it will turn on).
Flush never hurts, and 100* is not than bad as long as it doesn't go much hotter.

Mine goes up above 100 for a brief moment. But then again the accuracy of the temp gauge is questionable. Yes the fan kicks in. Typically stays at 100.
