I've got mine straight piped too, and have noticed the same thing. I like it.
At idle it resonates a bit, and outside during heavy acceleration you'd think a single engine plane was flying by.  Inside its pretty much the same volume as with the exhaust system still on. On the freeway you can't tell, as the engine is loud anyways.
