Ok, checked out the tranny vac valve levers, and sure enough, they were worn so bad, one was completely gone!
I ordered the new set already.
If it is just coincidence that brakes and tranny are having problems at the same time, that means I have to concentrate on the brakes now.
So, starting from the brake booster...
