My thermostat was not functioning, so when I blew off a cooling line on the highway at 75mph I had no way of knowing the engine was way to hot until I lost power and saw the cloud of smoke out the back!
I've swapped the motor in this car before, and am pretty sure I could do it in a weekend. It's currently in the back yard of a home where it can stay for a few weeks, so if I can find a motor near here it certainly is an option to just drop in another one. I have all the tools, I'd just need to rent an engine lift.
Also there is a gentleman out in British Colombia, Canada who has successfully dropped a sedan motor in a TD and added an electric pump system for the sls so I no longer feel the need to search for the elusive TD motor. check out his work here -
