Put a towel on the ground, then put the seat bottom upside down on the towel and kneel on the steel pan, it'll give you alot more fabric to play with. The cardboard does tend to delaminate and get too thick to fit in the groove, so you don't want this to happen. I start on the side, then work the cardboard through the radius of the corner, then the front and into the next radius, then the other side. Lots of it is done by feel and pressing on the fabric to make sure the cardboard is making it into the groove.
