Yes. replace the seal.

The torque converter is attached to the flex plate. It's a geared spline connection to the input shaft of the transmission which means a "slip fit".

Use reasonable caution when removing the old seal. Just don't booger up the housing and you'll be fine. I think I used an old piece of PVC pipe to seat the new seal. Don't go gorilla hammering the new seal into place.
