What does the engine temp gauge read when it's pedal to the floor on a steep climb?

Can you hook up a boost gauge? It's possible the EDS doesn't like something about the climb and is cutting back on boost. I'd sooner live with EGR than let the ECU determine when to allow boost. I replaced the vacuum wastegate actuator with a conventional pressure wastegate actuator in my SD.

Brian, what are the symptoms of a frozen IP timer? Do those things ever fail?
