They're red. It's just the photo. They are covered with the clear and don't give the look of bright red, but the red plastic is really red. Gotta use the orange bulbs in the side, though.
At night they are nice and bright, also. No safety issues. Of course, I have the "extra bulb" mod and some 20W #1156 Speedway Motors bulbs in these, and a third brake light with the motorcycle style pulse module on that 3rd stop light.
