I was out to the local Dodge/Jeep dealer to get the MB inspected and rub some salt in the wounds of the sales staff, when I noticed a crate Sprinter 5cyl MB diesel sitting in the parts room. It is everything for a drop in except starter & IP, even has turbo and fuel filter. I can't remember which year models it's for, but I think it is an '03 to '06. I bet it would really be a pain to put into a old MB due to DBW throttle, but where ther is a will, there is usually a way.
The parts guy said $9995 for the engine, if you have a core to trade it would be $6495 out the door.
This does not include state sales tax but if sold to someone out of state no sales tax would be involved I'm sure. You may be able to haggle on the price as they have two of these crate engines and I didn't ask for low dollar price. What really blew my mind was they had two of the crate engines.
