Oh, we noticed after a while, but silly me, I believed the readings. My wife drives the car, and only fills up every two to three weeks, so it went unnoticed for quite a while.

Actually, the numbers I quoted were not consistent. The city mileage went from 19-20mpg to 23-24mpg. On average, highway changed from 20-21mpg to 25-26mpg. But, we had one trip where I paid really close attention, and drove conservatively, and .......it actually hit 30mpg for a while.

Good point, it would be hard to miss such an improvement, but on the other hand, it was a couple of years ago, before gas prices went through the roof.
