Mine is an '84. I'm presuming it has the older style tensioner. It also has the adjustable rocker arms. It only seems to make the sound, like a rattling chain, at higher rpms. Seems quiet at idle or just starting. I'll see if it has a tensioner plunger like the diesel engines. I haven't had the need to do anything on the engine mechanically for quite some time. I guess it's about time now.
